| I am looking at Eldar for my next 40k army - right now I really only play Tyranids - I have Necron but don't find them terribly intriguing to play. If someone has Eldar and wants to trade for Necron I'd be willing- Otherwise I am looking for insight and advice for where to start with Eldar. I think War Walkers and Wraithlords looks amazing - not sure how functional they are though. | |

| Are you looking to make a competitive army or a theme army? | |

| My advice would be to wait for a new book first but that's just cause I play Eldar and they are...iffy right now. You gotta do some pretty annoying things to make em competitive. | |

| Wraithlord cons: slow, get eaten by monstrous critters and T-hammers, slow, get tar-pitted by any mob, slow, have very few attacks, slow, relatively pricey, slow, take a Heavy Support slot...
Wraithlord pros: can fire two heavy weapons.
They're not awful, but really won't do well against most "harder" army lists out there. | |

| The problem with wraithlords is that they take a heavy slot. They also need to be baby sat by a warlock to keep them from being stupid 1/6 of the time. In a shooty foot army they can be good. They can help keep people from assaulting your lowly guardians/rangers and are tuff to kill. I play mech eldar, and so fire prisms are what I take. I either go 2 with holo fields/spirit stones, or 3 naked. There is a rumor they are finally going to do a recut of the falcon/prism so the prism is all plastic. Not sure when/if that would happen. Maybe we could get some new jetbikes. The current ones are about the oldest plastic still in production. You might try Fritz Way of Saim-Hann http://saimhann.blogspot.com/ He plays competitive eldar. He use to play Saim-Hann, but has been playing with Harlequins lately. The Samm-Hann are all about fire denial, and last turn tank shocking objectives. We have to be dicks to be competitive now because GW wants to sell more stuff so they have made all the new armies ridiculously cheap point wise. I still like my eldar. Everything is specialized, and they need to work together. | |
