| so what about a pt bump for people taking lesser armys. I was going thru dakka and found this - Quote :
- Tier system: Bonus based on a 100 battle point scale. For those of you who don't play in tournaments, often who wins is decided by a single point. A 5 point bonus is significant. A 25 point bonus is huge, more than max points in a single game.
Tier 1: Wolves, BA, IG, Orks: straight battle points
Tier 2: SM, CSM, Tyranids, BT, Eldar, DE, Daemons: +5 Battle points
Tier 3: Tau, Sisters, Dark Angels: +15 Battle Points
Tier 4: Necrons, Daemon Hunters: +25 Battle Points Do you guys want to try this out?

| Comp systems = Epic Fail
My two main armies are in Tier 3, Tau and Deathwing (dark angels). And damn it, I don't need any charity or pity. I play those armies because they are fun and fairly competitive, albeit not forgiving. I will win or lose with pride.
My biggest problem with these systems is that those extra points are completely based on some d'bags opinion. The only scoring in tournaments that should even come close to being an opinion is a Paint score and that is something that uses a pretty well detailed check list.
I would still play in it, because I love tourney's in general, but I would feel a little dirty if I won.

| but that's the whole point, all comp is based on just what one person (or even a small group of people, think) it has no standing in competitive events. | |

Throw out the Codex for all the armies! They were written by a small group of people and reflect what they think! Trash, all of it!. And everyone in competetive events can tell you how bad GW is at writing rules. DOUBLE TRASH!! And they don't even try to write the rules for tournaments!!! IT"S ALL TAINTED! BURN IT! DA Boyz GT is a great example of a tournament where they use comp. People on Dakka scream all the time about them. It's sold out again this year. Kudos to Jay and his group. I on the otherhand won't use comp in 40k. Mostly because even bringing it up starts so much drama I want to hammer my models into little lead balls and go play Chess.

With a lot of work. ) It's something similar to what we used to do here, and how WFB in 7th was run at the northeast tournaments. Group of guys sit and score armies, based on the criteria in their area. Works very good with a fairly local (within 2 hours) group of people that have a similar play style, or who are used to the system. Falls apart as any comp does when it hits the internet and you get people who will never attend your tourney throwing crap at you from 9 states away. Theirs only so much "You're an asshat who wants to cheat so locals can win." that a TO can take. I gave up. Jay and his group are a bit more insulated, and it's a long running show. Selling out every year means you can flip the bird at the people who are not coming and want to yell at you on the internet.) They do a lot of work for their tournament. You send in a list, get it scored and told why. You can then resubmit, and do it all again. Huge amount of work for the TO, and god bless them for doing it. Players get a lot of chances to change lists or ask questions about the scoring. Some people will obviously not like Jay's system and be vocal about it. Doesn't matter. They sold out at 70-80 players.) Everyone coming must either like the system, or want to play anyways.)

| lol you all know I put that up there to be funny. I wouldn't mind playing in a 40k tournament with this set up but we wouldn't use it in blobs or the ICGT. | |
