Just like always the meeting will take place at G&S. For those of you who don’t know where that is It is about 1 to 2 miles from the bunker about 5 min away.

Games and Comics and Stuff, LLC
7476 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard
Glen Burnie, MD 21061
410.863.7418

We’re going to change things up a little bit. For our main event at G&S were going to go with, a painting competition. Who can paint the most models to the standard they will be painting all there models in there army to.
What this means, please let me explain;

1) You will be asked to present 1 model in your army you consider to be done.

2) This model needs at least 3 different painted colors on the model.

3) The base needs to be finished.

4) You will need to bring the majority of your paints to do this. There will be paints there for you to use. I ask that you try to bring your own paints for this event.

5) The challenge will start at 5:30 and go until 8:30

6) The model you will be entering in for the best painted model. Must be one of the models you have painted in the competition. NOT A MODEL YOU HAVE ALREADY PAINTED.

If you would like to participate in this event please let us know so we can put you on the list. Now there is going to be 2 different prizes for this event 1 will be the person who gets the most models painted. The second will be the person with the best looking model. Each prize will be worth 25 dollar gift card to G&S.

Judging for the event will be simple and as non partisan as I can make it. The judges for this event will be Matt. He will not be allowed to know who painted witch models. So it should be a good and fair judging.

We are also going to start on the tables down stairs. 5 of them need to be flocked and 5 more need to have paint put on them. As always we are looking for voluntaries for this to. Your job is to push this to all the Inner Circle and non Inner Circle people you can. If you all would like to also run the 500 point tournament I’m ok with this too.

The 40k kill team rules will use a variation of the old Combat Patrol rules:

No tank with a combined armor of 33
500 points
No models with a 2+ save (of any kind)
No models (including vehicles) worth more than 100 points
No units worth more than 250 points
No named characters
No model with more than 2 wounds

1+ Troops
0-1 HQ
0-1 FA
0-1 HS
0-1 elite

We'll run pitched battle, 3 objective scenarios with kill points and objective scoring for the wins.

[center]Painting competition

1) Nicholas Walters
2) joe neet

500 point Combat Patrol

1) Dave
2) Lincoln
3) martin
4) Dayquil
5) Adam
6) Tim and his tau
7) Dameon
8 ) Matt
9) reese
10)caution

Make sure you tell me your name and what event you would like to partisipate in. Thank you and we cant wait to see you there.

Hey fellas,

I tried to make it to the meeting tonight but I was stuck in Beltway traffic due to several reported accidents. By 545 I was still only about 8 miles from Andrews AFB. Anyway, I'm sorry I couldn't be there, I hope everything goes well. Fill me in later?

Hey guys,

Just a thank you note, that was awesome! I hadn't played such small games in a long time and it was awesome. With such small forces, every game I played was a nailbiter. I really like this format. No rules disputes arose...great sportsmanship all around. Thanks for the great time!

There are some forge world units that aren't that dangerous or game breaking. Berzerker orgyns for example, tau tetras, and there are some others like Grey knight razorbacks with psycannons and stuff. I would be open to it as long as it still meets the Combat Patrol restrictions (no 2+ save, 2 or less wounds only, etc.)

personally i'm against it as other armies have so much of an advantage in the combat partol over nids as it is. i mean most of you can take tanks mechs and skimmers already......nids get gaunts stealers and warriors. all infintry units. but thats just me gripeing lol. hopefully we'll have something useful for this in january. a normal 500 points list though nids are amazing, but hte broodlord has 3 wounds.

Thats a good point, but I don't think the lower coast forge world units are all that game-breaking. The inbalance that now exists with nids vs anybody with mech is not going to get worse or better by allowing forgeworld units to be used.

plus from last night these seem like pretty laid-back games and it would be fun to face something new...

NO Forgeworld in any other than fun story campaigns/tournaments. Any environment intended to be competitive should be codex only. Otherwise you get what happened at gladiator at adepticon last year, where the top tables/winners were ONLY those people that had shelled out to be bring a Reaver titan. Makes this hobby even more transparently "Moneyhammer" not skill based.

I totally agree with you in larger games and more competitive tournaments. This is combat patrol however, and I think you're taking this out of context. There are certain parameters that need to be met;

1) no 2+ saves
2) No models with 3 or more wounds
3) no vehicles with added armor value more than 33.

Within those parameters you're not going to be getting those big dangerous and broken units you can find in some of the forgeworld books. No titans that is for sure, nor any of the IG leman russ variants . This would include things like Grey Knight razorbacks with psycannons, kroot gnarloc riders, etc. Nothing game-breaker. This is combat patrol not a full normal scale tournament.

Plus I think CylonDave was asking about forgeworld because the guy has spent lots of money on building up a traitor guard army that sports some of those units and he wants to use them in combat patrol. I say we let him.

Before we make any sweeping rules about what can and cannot be used in Combat Patrol, let's get an idea of what kind of units CylonDave was thinking of using, before we make any hard and fast rules about ForgeWorld units.

Well it looks like we got some FW Haters....No big deal. It wasn't like I was planning to roll up in my Warhound titan. Relax guys....my question was more about the Army List in the books and less about such overpowering items like Flyers, Titans, Mega Tanks, and so on. In particular I was thinking about playing the Elysian D-99 Vet list. As ThatTauGuy has stated there is a lot in the FW books that is way out of the peramaters allowed in this event.

I'm also surprised at the negative reaction about this, when we consider this to be a laid back simple event, and not a tournament enviroment event. Of course it isn't my event so I'm not going to inject my thoughts when it comes to this. I'm very well read in all things ForgeWorld being a very big fan of the stuff and enjoying some of the extra fun that it adds to games of 40k when allowed. It's a good thing I asked now, because I was considering using a FW Cyclops demo tank with my renegades, which I didn't by the way.

I have no problem not bringing any FW into this, I own more then enough 40K armies that I got a choice what to play on Tuesday night and not get bored. I was just wondering if it was possible to expand on this some more. As for some of the items mentioned....Russ Variants...Bad News, they all made it to the new IG Codex, can we use them here, I doubt it because of the armor limits, so don't worry about them. Flyers...Guess what, they are Apocalypse only, and the rules in Apoco are much simpler to use then the older FW which are now gone, flyers aren't that bad when used, again its not too overpowering, but they do cost points so I don't expect to see them. Titans....come on are you seriously bringing up titans in a 500 point game....That's like Brent running Calgar ar 500 points! Grey Knight Razorbacks with Psycannons, its a Psycannon we all know what they do, and they haven't changed the weapon profile from the man portable one....Not anymore of a big deal then rolling a Razorback with Twin Lascannons or Twin AssCannons. kroot gnarloc riders....again another unit I don't think is too out there, I'm sure Chaos Deamons have even nastier units which are cavalry equal....

Enjoy!

No the Cyclops is basicly an RC tank with a democharge strapped to it...nothing else, 10 armor all around, and it can be killed by any glancing or pen hit. The unit also comes with an operator who has to stay within 48 inches to operate the tank(No LOS Needed). The tank has no weapons except the demo charge, it just rolls up and blows up...

Dave, you make some solid points.. And if we are going for the fun factor some of those sound reasonable and pretty balanced, my only concerns are the escalation factor and balance.....

Two questions:
1) not owning every(or any) FW books, are there small nifty units like that for every race?

2) If we did allow FW would it have to be a FW model or could any kitbash or scratch build work that looks close enough / approx size.

That thing sounds cool! Bring on the Cyclops tank...I think what we could do is have a review of any forgeworld units in the days coming up to the next combat patrol tourney night in two weeks. Those kinds of funky units are cool to see and I think most players wouldn't mind facing an armor 10 vehicle with only one weapon...

Works for me.
Adding a little variety into the reduced unit selection for those that want should go a long way to keep it fresh.

honestly I forgot that this was the thread about the combat patrol event. I don't care if we allow FW for that. I thought we were talking about the larger tournament. You can safely ignore my comment in this context.

Dave, you make some solid points.. And if we are Two questions:
1) not owning every(or any) FW books, are there small nifty units like that for every race?

2) If we did allow FW would it have to be a FW model or could any kitbash or scratch build work that looks close enough / approx size.

1. Honestly no, not everyone has nifty little toys. It is called Imperial Armor for a reason. Hence the imperial forces will have the most to gain from the books. Although for the most part the smaller units are upgrades to existing codex items, like the Razorback or Sentinel. The cyclops for example is a minor exception. Other non imperial races get some toys, Tau being perhaps the most supported by FW out of all the other armies. Eldar have a few tank upgrades, and nids get a few items but most are apocalypse stuff.

2. I've kitbashed my Cyclops for my renegades, but at the same time I also own 2 FW Cyclops for my imperial forces. I've kitbashed a few other things out of FW, but it is not as hard as doing it for any codex legal unit. I think its more about having the rules and owning the books to back your unit and its rules then kitbashing models. If you own the book, and you want to use the stuff, then yes I don't see a problem with it.

can you list the nids stuff by chance? i'm curious as the only thigns i've seen are MC and bigger. (harridan, heirophant, heirodule, winged tyrant) i know they have warrior wings and rippers with wings as well but the lader three are in the codex anyway. but yea i'm curious.

my opinion is that would kinda give certain armies even more advantage overall since they have more to choose from
. but again it's a small fun game environment honestly at this level/restrictions nids arnt very competitive so i'm happy faceing anything to get the experience though.

Caution...I would try to field something different next time. I think the warriors were a good choice, so keep them. But I would go for multiple groups of ten or so gaunts, definitely would give one of them without number and throw them at the opponent to tie him up. Give them fleet and then after they die, send the rejuvenated unit onto an objective late game. could work...definitely have one unit surrounding your warriors at all time to grant them a cover save. At this points level it might be best to get as big and fast a horde as you can. You might also try to get cheaper warriors (less upgrades) to get more stuff on the table.

i did think about the gaunts but i dont have any and am waiting till the new dex to see how they are. the warriors are hit and miss. though i do plan to get rid of that big useless cannon.

If your curious about nids perhaps you might want to look on the FW site, and see what models they offer. Usually if the units are listed in the book, the models are also made by FW. Also if your curious go to the Glen Burnie Bunker, they have store copies of all the IA Books, and your free to surf them.

I still don't see where you get this idea that having more choices is sometimes good. Nids have some of the most convertable units in the entire game, you have more upgrade options then some codex armies out there. I'm not going to argue with you over who has what, because its simply going to take us nowhere. Although at 500 points you can field an extreme force capable to taking down anything out there. Your Synapse rule is awesome at any level, and any other army would give anything to have it. At 500 points when such things as leadership are crucial, you have nothing to worry about. You have to guard it, yes but to an all fearless army with so many models is awesome at 500 points. An All warrior list with the right weapons and upgrades is a scarry list, I have seen it done and its nasty. Nidzilla is not the only place where nids excelle.

oh sorry if i came off wrong i wasnt trying to argue the point. was just posting an opinion is all. as to the FW stuff, if they make the models then i know what they have, as i've looked at the models. honestly though it never even crossed my mind to do all warriors, geuss i was stuck on needing the troops. i'm sure that would be pretty strong but unable to score. was talking to some people on another forum that said at 500 points we're pretty much the best army out there, but at combat patrol we're pretty much screwed, still fun to play though.
which i agree i found it very fun to play the other night, which is what counts anyway.
honestly untill the new dex my only real goal anyway is to learn HOW to play better, since i've only played 5 games total so far (3 were the combat patrol games lol)
