| I guess... I mean, its a pretty lame tactic. People would use rhino's as sights to pick off independent characters.... something tells me that's just not how the game was meant to be played. | |

| I disagree that’s how wars are fought use everything you can to win. Not a snipers bullet that goes 2 miles all of a sudden travels 4 to hit a worthless solder as opposed to the officer in charge that he was aiming at. | |

| Wargames that try to emulate reality generally suck.
The most successful games in the world are those that have risen to the level of national, professional sports ... and trust me when I say that there's no reality emulation applied to them. The game is paramount - that it be balanced, fair, and fun.
The fluff of the game is not materially harmed by some hobo wandering into the line of the sniper's bullet ... unless you're lacking in imagination, natch.
Games need to have reliable, balanced rules ... not "gameable" loopholes and/or crap meant to make them "realistic." F that noise. As soon as that becomes acceptable "good game" development I demand Baltic be worth more than Boardwalk, b/c !@#$ - chicks dig purple more than blue (BECAUSE I SAY SO), and we all know that's who owns the proverbial wallet of today's real estate gadzillionaires.

| Axis and Allies is cool, but damn I just don't have the patience for it usually. At least 40k I put all that time into stupid miniature painting ... so I feel like I HAVE to play to get my value back out of it.
I love you, too, Scooter. No, really. But not like that.

| i'm saying if a player is good enogh to eyeball the inches to a model with a lascannon and not be inrange of a diffrent model that takes some skill. Skill like being able to miss spell every word a person would type. | |

| God damn...who can I rustle up to get a game of Axis and Allies going with? I've got the large anniversary edition, and when 1940 Europe comes out I'm very tempted to pick that up along with 1940 Pacific and just create super A&A...... | |

I would posit that neither 40k or fantasy meets this standard very well. Particularly, "reliable, balanced rules" and even the notion that, "The game is paramount - that it be balanced, fair, and fun," I cite as evidence the overwhelming sense of needing comp in events to balance fluff/i.e. not game players with competitive players using the rules of the game.
