| Hiya, all. I just finished painting my first ever Warhammer 40k force, clocking in around 600-ish points. Would anybody like to play some quick 500-ish point games with me and make sure I've got a good grasp on how the game runs?
Thanks in advance! | |

| I can probably help you out. I haven't played allot of 5th ed. 40k but I have decent grasp of the rules. I can bring my Guard & play some games with you, hope you won't mind a few Chimeras 'cause even at 500pts I need to have some tanks. What time were you thinking? | |

| Hrm. Dunno about what time I'd show up. I'm free after 2 tomorrow, so probably early evening-ish? 3 or 4 would be ideal, I suppose.
And tanks should be fine. I'm playing Necrons, so I suppose it would be best to get accustomed to getting stomped. :3

| I bought two starter boxes of Malifaux and would love to try the game with somebody, but I don't really understand the rules yet. | |

| Who was arsvith? I know Jonny and I got to demo Malifaux, but I didn't see anybody else except one guy with a Nicodem box set. | |

| ah, goggle-man. cool. I was going to make a steampunk reference and then didn't.
The new game is cool Brent, but the models are so cool we'd have to break your hands if you didn't paint them. :-).

| Malifaux was incredible, and the models are some of the coolest/funniest/most ridiculous I've ever seen. | |

| Jonny killed my spider robots by having his drunk goblin king fart cloud them to death...so that's a taste of it. | |

| To be more specific, you use a standard deck of playing cards (with two jokers), as you would use dice. For example when you make an attack, you flip a card from the top of your deck and add it to your combat stat. Your opponent will do the same with their defense stat, and whoever scores higher will decide whether or not the attack hits. There are ways to modify this "flip" to stack the odds in your favor. There are various "twists of fate", which are positive or negative modifiers to your flip. Positive ones will allow you to flip multiple cards and pick whichever one you want. Negatives twists make you flip multiple cards and take the lowest. Lastly, you have a hand of six cards which replenishes at the start of every turn. With this hand, you can "cheat fate" which allows you to replace the card you flipped with a card from your hand. | |

| Basically you can get really lucky, but you can't get unlucky. It's really a beer and pretzels type game where models are super-powerful and there are wacky combos.
When we demoed it yesterday we decided that what seemed to be the right interpretation of something made no sense b/c it was too powerful, by the end of the game it was clear it should have done the crazy thing b/c the rest of the models all do crazy %$@@ too.

| Like the Ronin can move up to 24" in a turn and attack three times, and this game is played on a 3'x3' table. | |
