marine help needed

okay so to sum it up, when i finish painting my current bugs i wanna start a dark angels army. i just picked up the codex today and read through it. my problem is being exclusivly nids till now i really have no clue how to build a marine list, i know most people rhino it up, i'm thinking so far mainly ravenwing, but i'd like some deathwatch termies as well, maybe a squad of 10 broken into two 5 man units both enbarked in landradiers. anyone up for helping me flesh out a fun beginner list in the 1500 point range, that holds true mostly to what i've got in mind so far.

oh the other option i'm playing with is a mostly deathwatch army with a good ravenwing showing.(1-2 full ravenwing units)

Deathwing Terminators, not Deathwatch.

When I get home I'll see if I can make you a few lists, but I think @ 1,500 your best bet is Deathwing as troops with Ravenwing support. Sadly, normal DA marines just don't have the perks of normal marines. Also, I'm quite sure that DA terminators can only be 5 man strong, no more, no less.

death wing yea thats what i meant had deathwatch on my mind cause of just talking about a few books about deathwatch units. 5 man works though since you can only fit 5 in a landradier and none in rhinos. thanks for the help, at 1500 is taking land raiders even a viable option?

1,500 is tough for to fit an LR in and still be effective in this age of melta-spam. In my pure deathwing 1750 list, I somtimes run with 2 Land Raider crusaders.

Now, if you are playing a more mixed force of an entire DA army with 1 Deathwing assualt squad in a LRC, than that could work, but it's not my preference.

I think the most competitive DA armies will be Deathwing Troops with Ravenwing support at lower levels and Deathwing and Ravenwing (both as troops) at higher point levels.

Rough 1,500 list
Belial
4 x Deathwing squads, each with a combination of TH/SS, CML, and Storm bolters (Troops)
2 x 3-man bike squad with 1 Melta
1 x 3-man bike squad with 2 melta.

20 scoring termys and 9 bikes (with teleport homers) at 1,500. not to shabby, but takes a good general to win. (put an apothecary in one squad)

You can swith around the Ravenwing support dropping bikes and putting in speeders if that is your preference.

I'd be happy to share more thoughts Monday during our game. I may even test out a DA list against you.
