Conversion Questions Empty
PostSubject: Conversion Questions   Conversion Questions EmptyFri Oct 08, 2010 9:39 pm

Hi all, I am new to the area. I have played 40k since second edition, but took a hiatus from the end of 3rd edition until now. I am building a guard army, and want to put wheels (not tracks) on my Chimeras. I spotted Orky wheels online at the Bitz Barn (thanks for the suggestion, Scooter). However, three questions I feel compelled to ask before I make my purchase:

1. Are ork battlewagon wheels and ork truk wheels (the large ones) the same size? If they are interchangeable that would be nice...

2. Are those orky wheels the best bitz to use for my conversion, or is there a better option out there that I have missed? I was thinking a simple conversion (namely 6 big wheels) to make the chimera look a little more like the traditional APC...

3. Ya'll have any better ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance guys Smile

EDIT: Oh yeah, anybody got some of the aforementioned large ork wheels they want to get rid of? Very Happy

It's good to see you on the boards Sean. To answer your question I think the bigger wheels would look really cool on your tanks and yes I believe the truck wheels and the battle wagon wheels are the same.

G&S sells plastic tubing from GF9 if you also wanted to make an axel system to on the bottom of your tanks.

You might also want to take a look in places like Hobby Town in Glen Burnie, GPA hobbies down in Crofton. Maybe even the slot car place in Marley station.
They have all different kinds of models of various scales, static or R/C. Something like a Stryker or a Bradley might be exactly what you're after if you can find em the right size.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Trying to get my army in the works, Scooter. My buddy Matt and I played my first game of 5th Edition at Games and Stuff on Monday, and I can honestly say that I think that the current edition looks like a big improvement over 3rd edition.

Martin, I already have the Chimeras , so I am looking for just wheels instead of tracks, but the Stryker look is exactly what I was going for. If the orky wheels dont work out then maybe I will kit bash some strykers Smile
