PostSubject: PressGanger   PressGanger EmptyWed Mar 03, 2010 7:48 am

I am officially a Privateer Press PressGanger now, which means essentially a representative of the company when I'm running official events and tournaments.

I plan to talk to Matt about making one night a month (maybe 2) at GCS an official "DEMO NIGHT" where I'm specifically and explicitly set up to run new games and teach new people how to play Warmachine. Additionally I expect we'll start to run at least one larger tournament a month of Warmachine in various formats (primarily Steamroller 2010) with prize support and swag.

I'm talking to the other area PressGangers (of which there are 2-3) about starting an "All-Maryland League" over the summer that would be open to any regular player of WM or tournament attendee from out of state. So far the plan is to basically keep track of tournament attendance and performance of each player in the community from now until the end of the summer and have a large invitational event for players with the best records at the end of the summer to determine a "Maryland Champion" kind of thing.

Let me know if there are other events or formats you'd like to see or ideas you have for how to improve the community of players.

Thanks.

I had meant to get a Demo today, but I was forced to play 40k. I have the MK2 rulebook, but I need to wait a month before the army book I want comes out.

I could, but they actually have a code of conduct...the first item is: "Take a shower occasionally".

Should have my new Cryx cards soon, if I could ever get a Sunday where my wife isn't working I might be able to play this game again.

Sorry Paul, I'm the early shifter here at work now so I rolled out at 3ish and didn't see any of your emails. As a note I hit the bunker up in GB right after work on Weds. We are currently playing a 40k map campaign (by we I mean John, Spencer, Jason, Dave and I) so by other activities it's whether I have a game scheduled to play against one of them which I have 3 for this coming turn. Yeah! Planet strike with guard 0.o

That's OK, I figured something like that is what happened. I was able to get some painting done last night, which is really hard for me to get time for sometimes.

Paul, I'll be around this Friday and Sunday at GCS if you can find the time.

Also, is anybody planning on going to Cold War on Saturday for the WM tourney? I was thinking about it, but my wife is using our car that day it turns out.

I am going to Cold Wars event on Saturday, so if you would like to ride with me that would be fine. And I will be at GCS on Sunday too.

What time are you planning on driving up? I'd definitely take a ride. (it's 35 points right?...I should see if they still have spots first.)

Last time I saw, they still had like 8 slots left. It is 35 pts, using the SR 2010, so two lists. I am going to use eStryker Tier 4 list. I got to try out the 50pt version on Saturday when I played against Jimmy's Skorne.

I was planning on leaving no later then 9am, maybe even 8:30am.

That all sounds good. I can definitely put two menoth lists together.

I'll PM you my phone number, but I've got an email in to see if there are slots left.

How'd the T4 Stryker list run with at 50 points? I've got 6 unpainted storm lances sitting on my desk to run it myself.

Well my list was

eStryker
Squire
Stormclad x2
Stormblades w/UA x2
Storm Lances (minimum size) x2
Laddermore
Field Mechaniks (full size)

The first game I played, I tried to use the feat first turn to get my army across the board but it back fired because instead of having the Stormblades run , I had them Assaulting to I missed 2" of movement that made a difference. Got hammered because of it. The second game we played, I moved a little more cautiously and my feat turn was a lot more devastating. I was able to get one of my Stormclads into melee with eMorghul by having Stryker put Positive Charge on the clad and then popped my feat, I had given it 2 focus in the beginning of the turn. It activated got its third focus from the stormblades and since their were only Blood Runners in front of him, had him Trample 8" killing those guys, then when the feat kicked on moved those last 3" to get to eMorghul.

The Mechaniks are not really needed in this list, in both games they did not do anything. So I have decided to drop them and put in a Sentinel to fill out the list. I figure he will be able to help protect eStryker with his Shield Guard, and possibly be able to help thin out models blocking charge lanes.

Sounds good. How were the Cav?

I liked the utility of the Sblade Gunners when I ran it, but I can see eStryker needing a bit of a babysitter too.

I will like them too, but since their models are not out yet I can not use them yet.

The Cav were good. I missed placed them on setup, cause I was trying to keep both units near Laddermore. What I needed to do was put both Cav on the outside, each side and Laddermore more in the middle and they would have done even better. I was able to take advantage of Tall in the saddle a couple of times, since the Cav were behind my Stormblades they were able to attack over their heads.
